Muammar Gaddafi: 15 Things You Didn’t Know (Part 2)

We already brought you part one of our list of 15 things you probably didn’t know about Muammar Gaddafi, and now we’re back with part two! Check out eight more interesting facts about Libya’s former prime minister that you definitely (probably) did not know below. You might be surprised by what you find out!

Number Eight: He Really Liked Condoleeza Rice. Gaddafi had a borderline obsession with the woman, actually. He reportedly kept a photo album of her pictures, and he called her his “darling black African woman.” She once visited him, and he gave her $212,000 worth of gifts, including a locket with his picture.

Number Seven: He Was Into Some Weird Sex Stuff. Gaddafi reportedly liked an African-style orgy called “Bunga Bunga.” He told Italian Prime Minister Silvio Burlesconi about it, but it is unclear what exactly is involved in “Bunga Bunga.” It is rumored to involve a swimming pool and some pole dancing.

Number Six: He Did Botox. He apparently used Botox as a way to look younger, although it doesn’t look like it helped him all that much.

Number Five: He Was Afraid of Flying for Prolonged Periods of Time. Just like he was afraid of climbing more than 35 steps, it seems Gaddafi was not a man who liked doing any one thing for a long time.

Number Four: He Was a Hypochondriac. Gaddafi would have his medical examinations filmed so he could show them to other doctors. He did this both to protect himself and in case he wanted second, third, and fourth opinions.

Number Three: He Used Symbolism in Politics. After the Lockerbie bombing, Gadaffi sported white gloves to an Algiers conference because he refused to touch the “blood-stained hands” of Arab leaders also in attendance.

Number Two: He Had Pet Lions. Gaddafi allegedly had a complete private zoo for his children that only they could visit. Gaddafi’s son, Saadi, reportedly had nine pet lions.

Number One: He Also Had His Own Amusement Park. Though you might imagine Gaddafi’s house was more like a fortress, he actually had an amusement park in his home as well. The park included rides, games, and concessions.
