We already brought you part one of our list of 15 things you probably did not know about Mother Teresa, and now we’re back with part two! Check out eight more fascinating facts about the public figure and symbol for peace that you definitely (probably) did not know below. You might be surprised by what you find out!

Number Eight: She Won a Nobel Peace Prize. In 1979, Teresa received the prestigious Nobel Peace Prize for her life’s work with the sick and poor.

Number Seven: She Was Anti-Contraception AND Anti-Abortion. One of the most controversial parts of Teresa’s life were her stances on contraception and abortion. She was against using contraception and also against abortion.

Number Six: She Was a High School Principal. It’s true! Teresa was the principal of St. Mary’s High School, located in Calcutta. She also taught catechism and geography while there.

Number Five: She Founded a Lot of Charities. Teresa founded numerous organizations to help the less fortunate, including the Missionaries of Charity Brothers, the subsequent Sisters branch, the Contemplative Brothers, and the Missionaries of Charity Fathers.

Number Four: She Died Within a Week of Princess Diana. Strangely, the two met near the end of their lives and ended up dying within a week of each other.

Number Three: She Is One of the World’s Most Admirable Figures. While she was still alive, Teresa was voted one of the Gallup poll’s 10 most admirable women in the world not once, not twice, but an impressive 18 times.

Number Two: She Made Herself Famous. Teresa used her status as a celebrity to help as many poor people as possible, but she was much better at promoting herself than most people realize. Teresa next exactly what to say to journalists to manipulate them into spreading the message that she wanted to be spread.

Number One: She’s Finally Becoming a Saint. Teresa was beatified by the Pope in 2003, but after a miracle was attributed to her in 2015, the Pope decided to make her a saint. However, a canonization date has not yet been announced. We hope you enjoyed our list of 15 things you didn’t know about Mother Teresa!
