Morrissey Heading on Six-Date UK Tour in March

Morrissey just announced a six-date tour in the UK. The tour will kick off in March, and begins at Nottingham’s Capital FM Arena, before heading to Bournemouth, Cardiff, Leeds, and Glasgow. The tour will wrap up at Birmingham’s Barclaycard Arena on March 27th. Tickets for the tour will be available on January 16th. Morrissey is widely regarded as the essential innovator in the indie music scene. One publication called him one of the most influential artists ever.

In the 1980s, Morrissey first gained fame with the band, the Smiths. The band was very successful in the UK, but the band split in 1987. After the break up, Morrissey embarked on a solo career. His first solo album, Viva Hate, debuted at Number 1 on the UK Albums chart. Morrissey has released ten solo albums, including his 2014 effort, World Peace Is None of Your Business. A year and a half ago, the singer was hospitalized multiple times to receive cancer treatments. Morrissey spoke to El Mundo about his illness, “They have scraped cancerous tissues four times already, but whatever. If I die, then I die. And if I don’t, then I don’t. Right now I feel good. I am aware that in some of my recent photos I look somewhat unhealthy, but that’s what illness can do. I’m not going to worry about that, I’ll rest when I’m dead.” The news of the cancer treatments was a shock because this was the first time the singer ever mentioned having cancer.

The 55 year old seems to have recovered quite well. He was able to tackle his health issues, and record label dispute as well. In August of last year, Morrissey parted ways with Harvest Records. “I’m now at an age when I should no longer be making music. Many composers of classical music died at age 34. And I’m still here, and nobody knows what to do with me.” Morrison continued speaking on his displeasure with his record label, “With luck I will be able to stop singing forever, which would make many people happy!” His departure from Harvest Records didn’t stop Morrissey from continuing his tour late last year. The performer referred to his tour as the best one yet. The tour included just one UK date at London’s O2 Arena, but Morrissey listed the London show as his favorite gig of the year. Hopefully, the upcoming tour will be a fresh start for better things to come for Morrissey.
