From Germany comes an electro-pop band called Monophon. Monophon’s music video entitled “Secret Island” features a block of land that rotates throughout the video. The animated video looks somewhat like a video game. While the “Secret Island” is forever rotating in front of the screen, the scenery changes. Our tiny character runs around in circles, while the island alters its appearance. From gigantic animal-shaped balloons and a tower of old school televisions to a tavern and the pyramids, the journey is endless. Seasons change as well as the time of day.
The theme centers around the journey between the dream world and reality; past and future; here and now. It’s a wonderfully executed music video; it’s also the Monophon’s first 3D animated video. Enjoy the visuals, but most importantly, embrace the music. Monophon showcases a great amount of synths, strings, percussion, and echo-y vocals that are appropriate for an electro-pop anthem. It’s catchy; it’s upbeat. And most of all, it’s inspiring. Be inspired to dream big, to escape reality once in a while, to live in the present, to remember the past, and to prepare for the future.
