Miranda Lambert Leads ACM Awards Nominations

The Academy of Country Music Awards announced their nominees yesterday morning. Country music star Miranda Lambert leads all nominees with eight ACM nominations. Some of the awards she is nominated for include Entertainer of the Year, Album of the Year (Platinum), Single Record of the Year (“Automatic”), Video of the Year (“Somethin’ Bad” with Carrie Underwood), and Vocal Event of the Year (“Somethin’ Bad” with Carrie Underwood). Dierks Bentley earned seven ACM nominations including Album of The Year (Riser), Male Vocalist of the Year, Single Record of the Year (“Drunk On A Plane”), and Video of the Year (“Drunk On A Plane”). Luke Bryan and Blake Shelton will host the ACM Awards show this year. The Academy of Country Music Awards will air April 19th on CBS from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Miranda Lambert’s fifth album Platinum was released last year. The album soared to the top of the Billboard 200 charts in its debut week. It also sold an impressive 180,000 copies in its first week. The album marked Lambert’s first album to reach Number 1 on the Billboard 200. Platinum also went to Number 1 on the Country Albums Chart, becoming the singer’s fifth consecutive number one debut. The country singer’s Platinum album is also nominated for Best Country Album at this year’s Grammy Awards. To date, the project has sold over 500,000 copies. “Automatic,” “Somethin’ Bad,” and “Little Red Wagon” we’re all featured on the Platinum album.

“Automatic” managed to land on five different music charts including the US Country Airplay chart (Number 3), US Hot Country Songs (Number 4), and the Billboard Hot 100 (Number 35). The record is Lambert’s highest-debuting single to date. Besides “Automatic’s” ACM nominations, it is also nominated for two Grammy Awards including Best Country Solo Performance and Best Country Song. “Somethin’ Bad” is Lambert’s duet with Carrie Underwood. It peaked at Number 1 on the Hot Country Songs chart, becoming the first female duet to reach number one in ten years. The record is also nominated for a Grammy in the Best Country Duo/Group Performance category. Miranda Lambert is currently on her Platinum Tour, which will conclude on March 26th. Florida Georgia Line, Neal McCoy, and Thomas Rhett are some of the artists opening for the country music superstar.
