Minecraft is one of the most popular video games on the planet. However, despite the fact that the incredibly addictive game has spent a considerable amount of time in the spotlight and under the scrutiny of the public eye, there are still some things that many people don’t know. With that in mind, here we present our list of 15 things you probably didn’t know about Minecraft. Check out part one below, and stay tuned for part two, coming soon!
Number Fifteen: Before it Was Minecraft, it Was Cave Game. Minecraft was developed by Markus “Notch” Persson, and before he began calling the game by its current name, he called it “Cave Game.”
Number Fourteen: There Was an Accurate Recreation of the Entire Nation of Denmark in the Game. The government of Denmark decided to create a replica of the nation’s geography to entice children to be more interested in geography. However, hackers eventually cracked the server and tarnished the recreation.
Number Thirteen: The Creeper Was a Mistake. In fact, the tall and narrow figure was actually a coding error. Rather than being tall and narrow, it was meant to be short and fat; however, rather than fix the error, the developers left it in.
Number Twelve: It’s an Educational Requirement for Some Swedish Students. One school in Stockholm actually made the game a requirement for 13-year-old kids as a way to develop their creativity and problem-solving skills.
Number Eleven: The Landscape Isn’t Perfect. If users walk far distances from their starting points, Minecraft’s landscape will begin to both disintegrate and warp. It began as a math-related glitch, but the developers kept it in because they didn’t think users would wander that far.
Number Ten: There’s a Way to View Farmland as Empty Air. If a user enters Spectator Mode and goes into the ground, farmland will become an empty air block.
Number Nine: There’s an Alternative to Water Buckets. If a user needs water and for some reason can’t use water buckets, there are cauldrons that fill up when it’s raining a lot that can be used as an alternative.
