The LA Fashion Awards brought out some of music’s biggest stars such as Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, Ciara, Kanye West, and Katy Perry. This was the first year of the event, and due to this year’s turnout, it probably won’t be the last. The fashion show honored Jeremy Scott as Designer of the Year, Mazdack Rassi as Fashion Innovator of the Year, and Gigi Hadid was honored as Model of the Year. Pop singer Katy Perry showed up to the fashion awards wearing pink Adidas sandals. Perry tweeted about her pink shoes, “Wore my slides to a FASHUN (sic) party tonight because @ITSJEREMYSCOTT.” Pop star Miley Cyrus presented Jeremy Scott his award, and rapper Kanye West presented Mazdack Rassi his award.
Kanye West is no stranger to fashion. His creative director once described him as “the greatest designer that has yet to be seen.” West debuted his fashion line during Paris Fashion Week a few years ago. Last year, the rapper/fashion designer made his second fashion collaboration with the French brand, A.P.C. The first collaboration came the year before. As reported yesterday, West may design the NBA’s Washington Wizards’ uniforms. Wale, the Wizards’ creative liaison, is in talks with West about designing the uniforms. If the rapper accepts the offer, he will become the second hip-hop mogul to design an NBA uniform. Sean ‘P. Diddy’ Combs designed the Dallas Mavericks’ alternate uniforms for the 2004-2005 NBA season.
Kanye West fans are awaiting the arrival of his Yeezi sneaker debut with Adidas. After a few “teaser” quotes from both Big Sean and Theophilus London, consumers are wondering when the sneakers will finally get a release date. On the music side of things, Kanye West previewed a new collaboration with Rihanna at a music industry presentation. West made a surprise appearance at the iHeartMedia Music Summit in California a couple of days ago. According to sources, the rapper played a part of the duet, and then “slammed the laptop shut and walked out.” Those who heard the song were highly impressed. As West walked out, the crowd gave him a “roaring applause.” The applause may be an indication that West and Rihanna has a hit on their hands.
