Who would have thought that one of the biggest months for Michael Jackson would come five years after his death? An album release, a hit music video, and a groundbreaking concert performance have all been showered upon the King of Pop this past May. Now a Michael Jackson dance tribute filmed at a high school talent rally has racked up over 2.8 million views in one day.

The video, recorded at Pitman High School in Turloc, California, contains many talent entries but none as captivating as a young man’s uncanny mimicry of Jackson’s most cherished moves. Brett Nichols chose the 1983 no. 1 hit “Billie Jean” to showcase his fancy footwork, even breaking out into a moonwalk to the delight of the crowd.

“This is something that really inspires me,” Nichols told Local News 10. “And then it was later I thought, ‘Why isn’t this something I can’t do?’” The 17 year old junior has had his dance featured on the Today Show. It’s safe to say he’ll get to show off his moves even more atprom.

In other Jackson related news his beyond the grave album Xscape debuted at number 2 on the Billboard 200 char while his single “Love Never Felt So Good” has solidified itself in the top ten of the Billboard hot 100 ever since its release.

The highlights of the Talent show can be seen here. The Michael Jackson performance doesn’t occur until the 1:10 mark.
