Following his chart-topping and record-breaking success with “Uptown Funk,” his current single alongside Bruno Mars, musician and producer Mark Ronson revealed that he’s hitting the studio to work with Lana Del Rey on her new album. The release, revealed by Del Rey to be titled Honeymoon, will be her third studio album since hitting the scene under her stage name in 2012.
Ronson revealed that he’s meeting Del Rey for two days of recording, though he wasn’t entirely sure what they would be covering during that time. “She has some songs and I said I had some demo ideas, and if they are any good, then maybe she’ll like them and we’ll go from there.” Although nothing is concretely set in stone, this is hugely exciting news for fans of both Del Rey and Ronson.
Honeymoon will follow the release of Lana Del Rey’s 2014 chart-topping Ultraviolence, a concept album that explored elements of psychedelic rock, dream pop, desert rock, and blues rock. Del Rey revealed the existence of Honeymoon at the beginning of 2015, claiming that she would be exploring noir culture in the studio this time around. The album is expected for a release later in 2015 and has made its way onto several lists as one of the most anticipated records of the year. Del Rey has also teased several titles of songs that are expected to make their way onto the album, including “Music to Watch Boys To” and “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood.”
Currently, Del Rey is gearing up to embark upon her Endless Summer Tour, which is kicking off on May 7th in The Woodlands, Texas and coming to a close on June 16th in West Palm Beach, Florida. The musician will be supported by opening acts Courtney Love and Grimes, and will be traveling across North America, hitting 21 cities across the United States and Canada. This will be the musician’s first official tour, though the musician has headlined several high profile music festivals in the past. It is expected that the tour will be largely in support of Ultraviolence, though Del Rey may opt to perform new music from Honeymoon.
Mark Ronson is only three weeks away from tying the all-time record for most consecutive weeks in the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100. After 13 weeks at the number one spot, the track is only three weeks away from Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men’s 16-week reign in 1995 with “One Sweet Day.” Currently, Ronson and Mars hole the record for this decade, beating out Robin Thicke, T.I., and Pharrell’s “Blurred Lines” by one week. Aside from the success of “Uptown Funk,” Ronson has also worked with several female musicians on notable hits. Most famously, he is responsible for Amy Winehouse’s “Back to Black.”
