One of the darkest shows on television just recruited one of the darkest musicians out there. FX’s Sons of Anarchy has recruited shock rocker Marilyn Manson to portray the reoccurring role of a white Supremacist for the show’s seventh and final season. When asked why he would accept the role, Manson answered in a press release “Sons has been such a big part of my life, as well as my father’s,” Manson said in a press release. “So I was determined to make him proud by being involved in what will probably be remembered as the most amazing piece of television cinema. After all, the very heart of SOA is about that relationship. So, now all I need is a motorcycle.”

Sons of Anarchy tells the tale Jackson “Jax” Teller, a motorcycle outlaw living in the fictional and ironically named town of Charming, California. Throughout the show Jax struggles with his position in life and as initial vice president of the motorcycle club, often facing life or death situations. While an original work of fiction, the show has made numerous allusions to Shakespeare’s Hamlet, with star Ron Perlman sating that the show “will stick to the structure of Hamlet all the way to the end (of the series).” During Sons of Anarchy’s third season it became the most popular show on FC with subsequent fourth and fifth season premieres being the highest rated single episodes in the networks history.

Manson’s character will be named Ron Tully, a “white supremacist prison shot-caller” whom Jax will utilize to gain more control over the gangs. It is unknown how large or critical Manson’s role will be, though this being the final season suggests that major events will occur often as the series reaches its conclusion.

Marilyn Manson, born Brian Warner, became a large pop figure with the release of the 1995 EP Smells Like Children which featured the hit cover of The EurythmicsSweet Dreams”. Since then Mansion has been a controversial and volatile figure among gothic rock, with blatant sex and perversion being a constant motif in his music. This will not be the first time Manson has acted before, as he has appeared in films such as David Lynch’s Lost Highway and Darren Stein’s Jawbreaker. He has also made television appearances on the Tim and Eric Show and Eastbound and Down.

The final season of Sons of Anarchy is set to begin this September on FX.
