Mariah Carey Returns with Break-Up Anthem

Mariah Carey just released her new single entitled “Infinity.” The song is already being hailed “the break-up song of the summer.” While some break-up songs are sad tear-jerkers, Carey’s “Infinity” is the complete opposite. “Name hold weight like kilos/ Boy you actin’ so corny like Fritos/ Wouldn’t have none of that without me, though/ Ain’t none of my business, it’s tea though/ Outta ammo, gotta reload/ If life was a game you’re a free throw/ It’s nothing that you don’t already know,” the lyrics state. Some fans are speculating “Infinity” is directed at Carey’s ex-flame Nick Cannon. After six years of marriage, the pop goddess and Cannon announced they were separated last year.

The pop singer’s album, Mariah Carey #1 To Infinity, will be released on May 18th. The project will feature eighteen of Carey’s number one hit songs, and it will also feature her recently released single “Infinity.” Mariah Carey #1 To Infinity will be distributed by Epic/Columbia/Sony Legacy. Epic Records’ CEO Antonio “L.A.” Reid spoke about Carey’s legacy in the music business. “There is really no one who comes close to Mariah as both a songwriter and a singer. As the world knows, her vocal range is legendary and truly incomparable,” Reid stated. He continued,”Her music is indelibly etched into our culture, and she’s shattered so many chart records that she’s now firmly entrenched in the history books.” Carey signed a multi-album record deal with Epic Records earlier this year, and Mariah Carey #1 To Infinity marks the first release from the deal. Some of the songs that will be featured on the new album include “Vision of Love,” “I’ll Be There” featuring Trey Lorenz, “Dreamlover,” “One Sweet Day” featuring Boyz II Men, and “Always Be My Baby.”

Carey is expected to begin her Las Vegas residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on May 6th. The pop legend will perform her eighteen number one songs each night, as well as her other signature hits. To date, several other shows have been announced in regards to Carey’s residency.
