Major Lazer to Release New Project This Summer

Major Lazer will release their third album entitled Peace is the Mission on June 1st. The album will feature guest appearances from Ellie Goulding, Pusha T, Ariana Grande, Travi$ Scott, 2 Chainz, and more. Fans can pre-order the album on the Mad Decent website. Those who pre-order the project, will receive downloads of “Lean On” and “Roll the Bass.”

Major Lazer just premiered the music video for “Lean On” (featuring MO and DJ Snake), which is the first single from Peace is the Mission. The music video was filmed in India earlier this year. “India is special and its beauty absolutely humbled me. When we toured there as Major Lazer, and it was mind blowing to see our fan base,” Diplo told Billboard magazine. He added, “We wanted to incorporate the attitude and positive vibes into our video and just do something that embodies the essence of Major Lazer.”

Major Lazer will embark on their world tour on March 26th in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. The next two days, the trio will perform in Belo Horizonte and São Paulo in Brazil. They will travel to Las Vegas, Nevada for a performance at Encore Beach Club. Major Lazer has a great deal of music festivals scheduled on their tour, some of which include the Hangout Music Festival, Wakarusa Festival, Free Press Summer Fest, Tinderbox Festival, and the Wireless Festival. Major Lazer consists of Diplo, Walshy Fire, and Jillionaire. Their music can be described as reggae, dancehall, and electro influenced. The trio’s studio albums include Guns Don’t Kill People…Lazers Do and Free the Universe. Free the Universe, their sophomore project, produced eight singles including “Get Free” and “Jah No Partial.” The album reached the top spot on the US Dance/Electronic Albums chart and the Australian Dance Albums chart. 

Besides their music ventures, Major Lazer’s cartoon series will debut on the FX Network on April 16th, according to Billboard magazine. The cartoon will feature guest appearances from Tiesto, Charli XCX, RIFF RAFF, Azizi Ansari, Trinidad James, and more.
