Madonna’s ‘Rebel Heart’ Tops Chart in Australia

Madonna‘s Rebel Heart is Number 1 on the ARIA Albums Chart, which is her eleventh chart-topper in Australia. Some of the pop singer’s other albums to impact Australia’s chart at Number 1 include True Blue (1990), Erotica (1992), Bedtime Stories (1994), Ray Of Light (1998), Confessions Of A Dance Floor(2005), Hard Candy (2008), and MDNA (2012). Rebel Heart features guest appearances from Kanye West, Avicii, Alicia Keys, Nicki Minaj, Diplo, Chance The Rapper, and boxer Mike Tyson

Madonna may have topped the charts in Australia, but the pop singer is currently in a battle with the Empire soundtrack for the Number 1 spot on the US Billboard 200. Both projects have sold over 125,000 copies worldwide. The winner of the top spot will be revealed on March 18th, when the Billboard 200 chart comes out.

Madonna was denied the top position on the UK Albums chart this week. Rebel Heart was expected to be the Number 1 album on the UK chart, but Sam Smith‘s In The Lonely Hour claimed the top spot at the last possible minute. Smith’s album sold just 12,000 more copies than Rebel Heart. Smith’s “Lay Me Down” performance with John Legend on Friday night may have contributed to his recent boost in sales. To date, Madonna has had eleven albums top the UK albums chart. Although Rebel Heart got off to a rocky start, due to the album leaking, but the project seems to have recovered quite nicely.

Australian fans were ecstatic to hear that the pop icon will bring her worldwide tour to Australia. Madonna will make a stop in Asia and Australia in 2016, which marks the first time Madonna has performed in Australia since 1993. Madonna’s Rebel Heart worldwide tour will begin its US leg on August 29th in Miami, FL. She will perform twenty-one dates in North America (New York, Philadelphia, Illinois, Philadelphia, and more) which will wrap on October 27th in Los Angeles (CA). Madonna’s tour will launch in the UK and Europe, which will run in November and December. The pop singer will travel to Italy, Spain, Glasgow, and several other places during her overseas tour. Her United Kingdom leg will conclude on December 20th in Glasglow, Scotland.
