Madonna Makes Billboard Dance Club Chart History

Madonna has officially stamped her card on the Billboard royalty chart. The pop goddess now has an unprecedented amount of forty-five songs reach the top of the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart. Her latest single “Ghosttown” reached Number 1, and now Madonna leads all artists with the most number ones on a Billboard chart. “Ghosttown” was written by Madonna, Jason Evigan, Evan Bogart, and Sean Douglas. The singer spoke to Billboard magazine about the concept of the song late last year. “This one is about the city after Armageddon. The burnt-out city, the crumbling buildings, the smoke that’s still lingering after the fire. There’s only a few people left. How do we pick up the pieces and go on from there,” she explained.

Back in February, the pop singer received her 44th Number 1 on the Dance Club Songs chart with her single “Living for Love.” Madonna’s 44th chart-topper tied her with George Strait, who’s had forty-four songs reach the top of the Hot Country Songs chart. Some of the pop singer’s other number one songs on the dance chart include “Material Girl,” “Open Your Heart,” “Vogue,” “Justify My Love,” “Give Me All Your Luvin'” featuring Nicki Minaj and M.I.A., and “Turn Up the Radio.”

Madonna‘s “Ghosttown” and “Living for Love” are both featured on the pop singer’s Rebel Heart album. Even though it didn’t reach the top of the charts on the Billboard 200, the project entered Australia’s ARIA Albums Chart at Number 1. It became Madonna’s 11th album to peak at Number 1 in Australia; her other number ones on the ARIA includeTrue Blue, Erotica, Bedtime Stories, Ray of Light, Confessions Of A Dance Floor, Hard Candy, and MDNA. Rebel Heart also went to Number 1 in Canada, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Japan, Spain, and Switzerland.

Madonna will launch her Rebel Heart tour this summer on August 29th. The tour has 28 dates scheduled in North America, and 25 dates in Europe. Some of the cities the pop singer will travel to in North America include Miami (FL), Atlanta (GA), New York (NY), Boston (MA), Detroit (MI), and Las Vegas (NV). The European leg of the tour will begin on November 4th. Madonna will travel to Cologne (Germany), Berlin (Germany), Turin (Italy), Barcelona (Spain), Paris (France), and Manchester (England). The Rebel Heart tour is scheduled to wrap on December 20th in Glasgow, Scotland.
