Perhaps the most talked about moment at Coachella was not a performance, it was instead the kiss Madonna planted on Drake. After their open-mouthed kiss, Drake had a look of disgust on his face and he immediately wiped his mouth. While Madonna was proudly marching off the stage, the rapper covered his eyes and asked, “Oh shit, what the f*** just happened?” Madonna was widely criticized for kissing Drake, and some even called the pop goddess “old” and “desperate.” Others weren’t as critical of Madonna, but that didn’t stop them from laughing at the pop singer and calling her an “embarrassment.” For those who believed Madonna was mortified by Drake’s reaction, well you’re wrong.
Madonna answered all the backlash with a few messages for her haters on social media. “If you don’t like me and still watch everything I do… Bitch, you’re a fan,” she posted on her Instagram page. Madonna’s message to her critics didn’t end with just one post, she also posted two more photos on her Instagram page as well. The first photo showed Madonna surrounded by semi-naked men with a caption featuring the lyrics from her “Human Nature” song: “I’m not your bitch…. Don’t hang your shit on me. Not then… #unapolgeticbitch [sic].” The other photo featured Madonna on the Coachella stage, accompanied with the caption, “And not now……. Not ever! #unapolgeticbitch [sic].”
On the other hand, Drake explained his reaction to “the kiss seen around the world” on Instagram, too. Late last night, the rapper posted a photo of him and Madonna’s kiss. The caption that accompanied the photo read, “Don’t misinterpret my shock!! I got to make out with the queen Madonna and I feel [100 emoji] about that forever. Thank you @Madonna.” Drake did confirm that he did not know the pop singer was going to kiss him, and she was just supposed to dance around him while he sat in his chair. Drake and his team should have known the pop goddess wasn’t going to just dance around the rapper; Madonna is a proven showstopper. The jury is still out whether or not Madonna and Drake’s kiss trumps Britney Spears/Christina Aguilera and Madonna’s infamous MTV Video Music Awards kiss in 2003.
