Lykke Li Cancels International Tour Shows

Due to exhaustion, singer Lykke Li is canceling her upcoming international festival appearances. Li was scheduled to perform in Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore, but the ramifications of constantly touring has worn the singer out. She issued the following statement on social media, “I am utterly devastated. Sometimes we push and push but the body simply won’t follow. I gave it all I had, my body, heart and soul. After seven years of touring, my health is screaming/begging for me to listen/heal/slow down. Thank you so much for understanding. Thank you for listening to my bleeding heart and watching me dance in the dark these past years. I love you. I will come back. Stronger. But for now my loves, I have to rest.”

Li was booked for seven performances, which would have started on January 24th and ended on February 8th. The Swedish pop singer has not specified how long her break will last. She concluded the statement to her fans by writing, “U (sic) can’t always “win”… take care of yourselves!!!! You mean the world to me. Choose light and life! Life is EBB n flow, high n low. But we keep on. I will miss you so. X.”

Li has released two albums since her breakout debut, Youth Novels, in 2008. Her second album, Wounded Rhymes, was released in 2011. Li’s most recent album, I Never Learn, was released last year. The album reached Number 29 on the Billboard 200 album charts. I Never Learn was lead by the singles, “Gunshot” and ironically, “No Rest for the Wicked.” The I Never Learn Tour was a fall tour last year; which included fourteen concerts around the US and Canada. Last summer, she continued to tour music festivals in the US and oversees.

Lykke Li is not only a singer and songwriter, she has also taken on an acting and modeling career. In 2010, she became the face of Levi’s Curve ID Collection. Li signed with the Viva Model Management agency a few years ago. In 2014, she made her acting debut in the film, Tommy. The Swedish crime film was directed by Tarik Saleh.
