Lykke Li: 15 Things You Didn’t Know (Part 1)

Lykke Li is one of the biggest Swedish pop stars in the scene right now. The “I Follow Rivers” singer has been around the block a few times, and she’s only 29 years old. However, despite the fact that Li has spent a considerable amount of time in the spotlight and under the scrutiny of the public eye, there are still some things that many people don’t know. With that in mind, here we present our list of 15 things you probably didn’t know about X. Check out part one below, and stay tuned for part two, coming soon!

Number Fifteen: She Was Booed Off Stage. Li moved to New York to pursue her career, and before she hit it big, she would often go to open mic nights. At one such open mic night, she got booed off the stage.

Number Fourteen: She Was Born Into Music. Li’s mother and father were both musically inclined. Her father was in a reggae band called Dag Vag, and her mother was in a punk band called Tant Strul.

Number Thirteen: She Would Prefer to Be Ignored Rather Than Misunderstood. In a game of “Would You Rather…?” with Complex, Li revealed that she would rather be completely ignored than misunderstood by someone.

Number Twelve: She Suffered From Depression. After going on tour for her debut album, titled Youth Novels, Li fell into a bout of depression. She explained that after going nonstop for three years, the sudden change of environment really messed with her head.

Number Eleven: She Hates the Sound of Her Voice. Li revealed in an interview that she hates the sound of her own voice! Unbelievable, right?

Number Ten: She Wants to Open for Bjork. Li revealed that if she could open for anybody in the world, she would want to open for the ever-iconic Bjork.

Number Nine: She Relates to Some Hip-Hop. Emphasis on “some.” Li has been sampled by numerous hip-hop artists, and while she says she does not love all hip-hop, she can relate to some artists. Specifically, she relates most to 2Pac, Biggie, Nas, and MF Doom.
