Ludacris Preps the Release of ‘Ludaversal’

Ludacris is getting ready to release his ninth studio album, Ludaversal, on March 31st, and promotion is beginning to pick up as he gears up for the big release. Earlier today, the rapper released the official tracklist for the album, and he announced that the album was made available for pre-order on iTunes. The highly anticipated album features collaborations with Big K.R.I.T., Miquel, Monica, and Usher on the standard edition. On the deluxe edition, Ludacris teamed up with Rick Ross, Cee-Lo Green, John Legend, and Jason Aldean.

Ludaversal will be the rapper’s first studio album since 2010’s Battle of the Sexes. The album topped the Billboard 200 album charts and gave birth to several hugely successful singles including “How Low,” the Nicki Minaj collaboration “My Chick Bad,” and the Trey Songz collab “Sex Room.” Since 2012, Ludacris has been working on getting Ludaversal out for release.

In December of 2014 he released the EP Burning Bridges, which was heralded as a precursor to Ludaversal. In an interesting turn of events, all of the deluxe tracks included on Ludaversal were originally released on the Burning Bridges EP alongside the album’s lead single “Good Lovin,” which is a collaboration between Ludacris and Miquel.

Ludacris officially released “Good Lovin” in December of 2014 after teasing the track in October. Without a music video or an intense promotional schedule, the single has yet to truly pick up on radio. Currently, the single has peaked at Number 14 on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles Billboard chart (the equivalent of Number 114 on the Billboard 100).

Ludacris will also be appearing onscreen in Furious 7 on April 3rd, the final film in the Fast and Furious series. Surprisingly, the rapper will not be appearing on the film’s soundtrack, which is set to feature offerings from Kid Ink, T.I., Wiz Khalifa, Iggy Azalea, and several others. The rapper has been acting since 2001, and he got involved with the Fast and Furious films in 2003. Furious 7 will be his first film role since 2013’s Fast and Furious 6. He also served as a judge in the 2014 singing competition Rising Star alongside Kesha and Brad Paisley.

Fans who pre-order the album will gain instant access to “Call Ya Bluff” and “Beast Mode.” Fans will have to wait until March 31 to hear the rest of the album. If you’re interested in picking up a copy head on over to iTunes to get an idea of what to expect come March 31st.
