Ludacris Hosting Billboard Music Awards Again

After last night’s iHeartRadio Music Awards, it is time to turn our attention to the next awards show on the horizon, the Billboard Music Awards. Today (March 30th) it was announced that rapper Ludacris would be reclaiming the title of host for the evening after a successful stint last year. Luda will share hosting duties with supermodel Chrissy Teigen. The Billboard Music Awards will be taking place on Sunday, May 17th, and will be broadcast on ABC.

Both Ludacris and Teigen have expressed their excitement for the hosting position. The Dirty South rapper reminisced on the good time that he had while hosting last year’s show, stating, “I had so much fun hosting the Billboard Music Awards last year, and I can’t wait to be back.” Teigen shared a similar sentiment: “if my extensive collection of all 53 Now That’s What I Call Music compilations is any indication, I am both qualified and honored to join Ludacris in hosting this amazing show that spotlights the best music and artists of the year.”

This will be the fifth time that the Billboard Music Awards have been aired after taking a short hiatus between 2007 and 2010. The show was created in 1989, and has been hosted by several large names in the entertainment industry, including Phil Collins, Chris Rock, ‘N SYNC, Jessica Simpson, and Ryan Seacrest. Since 1997, the show has been hosted in the MGM Grand Garden Arena, which is located in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The 2015 nominations will be announced on Tuesday, April 7th on Good Morning America. Ludacris is expected to make an appearance on the show with Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz to assist with the announcement. The Billboard Music Awards’ biggest accolades include the coveted Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, and Song of the Year categories. Last year, Justin Timberlake swept two of the categories, winning the title of artist and album while Robin Thicke, T.I., and Pharrell took the Song of the Year award.

Both Ludacris and Teigen also have other projects that they are currently promoting. Ludacris is prepping for the release of his new album, Ludaversal, which is set for release on March 31st. This will be his ninth studio album, and the first since his 2010 Battle of the Sexes. Teigen is gearing up to co-host LL Cool J’s Lip Sync Battle, a game popularized on The Late Night Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
