Zendaya Will Host Radio Disney Music Awards

Singer-actress Zendaya will host the 2015 Radio Disney Music Awards this year. Zendaya will not only host the awards show, she is also nominated for the Artist With The Best Style award. “We’re going to have a great show, [and have] a lot of fun and get to watch amazing performances, so I’m very excited,” the singer said in a statement. The Radio Disney Music Awards will take place at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on April 25th.

The awards show will air on the Disney Channel the following night at 8pm (Eastern standard time). Some of the nominees for the Radio Disney Music Awards include Pharrell Williams, Fifth Harmony, Ariana Grande, One Direction, Nick Jonas, 5 Seconds of Summer, Meghan Trainor, Maroon 5, Shawn Mendes, Taylor Swift, Charli XCX, Ed Sheeran and more.

While the Disney Channel network recognized Zendaya’s fashion sense, the singer’s fashion sense was questioned by Giuliana Rancic (who is a co-host on E!’s Fashion Police). Rancic’s criticism of Zendaya’s braided hair caused quit a media stir last month. Rancic’s remarks that the singer’s hair looked like they smelled of “patchouli oil and weed,” proved to be very damaging. Although Rancic apologized for her comment, the apology just wasn’t enough to keep Kelly Osbourne on Fashion Police.

Osbourne decided to leave the show permanently in February, following Rancic’s remarks. Osbourne has been a co-host on Fashion Police since it was launched in 2010. When Osbourne left, several celebrities were considered as her possible replacement; Kourtney Kardashian was one of the people E! was considering. Fashion Police was supposed to return on the air on March 30th, but Kathy Griffin unexpectedly quit the show too. Since Griffin’s departure,Fashion Police is currently on hiatus. There are speculations that the show will not return.

Zendaya seems to have moved past all of the controversy with Fashion Police. The singer is featured on Bobby Brackins’ new single “My Jam” (also features Jeremih). The song reached Number 3 on Billboard + Twitter Emerging Artists chart. Zendaya’s solo career includes her self-titled debut studio album, which was dropped in 2013. The project reached Number 51 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart, and it featured the single “Replay.” The single faired-well on the Billboard charts, and it peaked at Number 3 on the Hot Dance Club Songs chart.
