Number Fifteen: More Than Seven Billion Hours of Video Are Watched Every Month. That’s month – not year! Every single month, people all over the world watch more than seven billion hours of video on YouTube. That’s one hour for every single person in the world.
Number Fourteen: More Than 100 Hours of Video Are Uploaded Every Minute. People must really like sharing their own videos, because more than 100 hours of YouTube videos are uploaded every single minute. It would take one person four whole days to watch the video content uploaded to the site in one minute.
Number Thirteen: Almost All of the Viewers Are From Outside the United States. You might think that the bulk of YouTube’s viewers are in the U.S., but that’s where you’d be wrong. In fact, a whopping 80 percent of the views on the site are from outside the United States.
Number Twelve: It’s Responsible for a Lot of Domestic Web Traffic. In the United States, YouTube and Netflix comprise 50 percent of all web traffic. That’s a lot of watching.
Number Eleven: The Most Viewed YouTube Video Isn’t That Surprising. It’s Psy’s “Gangnam Style.” The video was released in 2012 and has since been viewed over 2.5 billion times.
Number Ten: There Are a Lot of Justin Bieber Haters on the Site. In fact, Justin Bieber‘s video for “Baby” is the most disliked video on YouTube! It has over 5.5 million dislikes.
Number Nine: Its Creation Was Inspired by Janet Jackson’s “Wardrobe Malfunction.” The co-creators of the site helped come up with the idea for YouTube when they were unable to find video footage of Jackson’s famous Super Bowl nip slip.
