The Daily Show is probably last place we’d ever expected Wu Tang Clan to pop up. Last night, RZA and Raekwon of Wu-Tang Clan put aside their issues, joining forces with the full Clan- all nine (surviving, R.I.P. Ol Dirty Bastard) members- for an interview and performance on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, and revealed that they will release their long-awaited reunion album, A Better Tomorrow before Christmas. Now that in-fighting issues have been resolved, the collective is finally giving fans new material, a new album and a brand new single, performed on Comedy Central’s popular news program The Daily Show.
Jon Stewart prompted the Clan about their reunion, quipping “Simon & Garfunkel couldn’t hold two guys together. How do nine happen? How did we come back after 20 years and get everybody together again?” RZA spoke for the Clan, saying “I think we all are striving for ‘A Better Tomorrow’ and we, Wu-Tang, we all have something in common with each other. There’s a brotherhood and there’s a respect.” Ghostface Killah also explained that although the clan members are all committed to hip-hop, they also appreciate the ability to switch roles and go home to their respective families as fathers and husbands. After the interview, Raekwon, GZA, RZA, Ghostface Killah, Method Man, Inspectah Deck, U-God, Masta Killa, and Cappadonna wrapped up the show by performing 1997 classic “Triumph,” and their new single “Ron O’Neal.”
