YouTube is the world’s largest video sharing platform where you can find millions of videos from all corners of the world. It was founded in February 2005 by three former employees of the online payment service PayPal. These three gentlemen – Chad Harley, Steve Chen and Jawed Karim – came up with an innovation that would not only change the face of video sharing for generations, but it would also be the beginning of some any artists’ discovery.
YouTube was later bought by Google in 2006 for $1.65 billion and is currently one of the Google subsidiaries. It has its headquarters based in San Bruno, California in the United States of America. The video platform allows users to create accounts and upload videos they wish to share with the world. The viewers access these videos by going to the YouTube website or through the YouTube mobile applications across various mobile phone platforms. These videos can be watched and even shared.
A lot talent can be found on YouTube, from magicians to musicians, comedians, actors and several other talented individuals. YouTube gives all these talented individuals a platform to share their skills with the world and the exceptional ones get discovered by big companies who jump start their global domination.
In the music industry, some of our best-loved celebrities started off their careers from YouTube. The most memorable ones include Justin Bieber, Cody Simpson, Soulja Boy, Carly Rae Jepsen, Austin Mahone, Ian Thomas and the list goes on. These artists and several others shared their videos singing, and millions of views later, they created an impression on people that could push their careers. They got discovered and they were given major record deals thanks to YouTube which provided them with the exposure.
YouTube is that music promoter that never gets the credit it deserves. Justin Bieber would have never been the international sensation he is today if these three gentlemen had never invented YouTube. YouTube has played a very significant role in exposing great talents to the world. I believe YouTube is one of the most visited web services in the world. It brings in millions of viewers daily. A video can go viral hours after it has been uploaded and the amount of exposure this gives the person in the video is incomparable. No other channel has this much capacity to expose talent to the world.
YouTube has offered a worldwide platform for millions of people to share their talent. Musicians that have had their careers jump started by this platform are very many and many more are yet to come. This makes YouTube more than just a video sharing platform, it makes it a very big music promoter.
Without YouTube, these musicians would have never had a hustle-free entourage into the industry. Discovery is getting handed a record deal on a sliver plate with a gold diamond-encrusted pen to sign it with. Without YouTube, these artists that owe their fortune to the video platform would have never been discovered, since very many of them uploaded their singing videos without the intention of attracting a big promoter or producer. YouTube is hence the unsung music promoter who has given millions of talented musicians a chance to create a fan base and grab a big opportunity when it comes calling.
FDRMX Eyes: While YouTube caters to independent artists on lower levels, it generally promotes major record labels. Little known or independent artists can promote their music through our video platform. Aspiring singer-songwriter Nick Deutsch promoted his video for “Crazy Ride” on our platform this week.
