Waka Flocka Gets Kanye, Jay-Z for ‘Flockaveli 2’

Five years after his debut album Flockaveli, Atlanta-based rapper Waka Flocka proves he still goes hard in the paint. Waka Flocka recruits an all-star lineup featuring some of hip-hop’s biggest names for his upcoming album Flockaveli 2. The 50 K rapper announced via his Twitter account that the album will feature Kanye West, Drake, Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, and 50 Cent.

The LP will be available for the world to hear on June 1st of this year. These high-powered features only increase the anticipation for the long-awaited sequel to Flockaveli – the album that jumpstarted his career with hit songs like “Oh Let’s Do It,” “Hard in the Paint,” and “No Hands” featuring Wale and Roscoe Dash. Waka Flocka has not dropped an album since 2012’s Triple F Life, but has kept his fan base satisfied with numerous mix tapes like recent standouts The Re-Up and I Can’t Rap Vol.1. Waka Flocka has also expressed his interest in growing artistically, working with artists from other genres.

In 2014, he went on tour with Steve Aoki and plans on dropping an EDM album called Turn Up God, which has yet to see a release date. On Flackaveli 2, Waka said, “Imma show you a different Waka this time, Way turned up more turned up. Different crowds. I’m touching different genres.” He released the first single “Slippin” last week with  production from Mike Will Made It. The album will also feature some  production from 808 Mafia, Lex Luger, Jojo and Black Metaphor. Waka has already started the year off right, releasing a freestyle to J. Cole‘s “Firing Squad” and a banger “Ova” with DJ Whoo Kid featuring Ca$h Out and Offset from Migos.

A major artist in Waka’s career, who he has not mentioned as a feature on the album, is Waka’s mentor and frequent collaborator, Gucci Mane. The rappers recently had a fallout, and it is unclear whether or not they have patched things up and decided to move forward. Gucci is currently serving time for a gun possession, but continues to release a bevy of music. Waka Flocka is heading towards a huge year with two LPs to be released, along with I Can’t Rap Vol.2, which Waka says should drop before the album.
