The UK Bestival music festival is finally making its way into North America. The festival organizers will host a two-day event in Toronto on June 12th and 13th, making this the first time the festival will be held outside of the UK.”We have waited twelve years to decide to launch another Bestival outside the UK. It took a really special city, and an even more exciting site, with Toronto and Toronto Island to make us take the leap,” Bestival organizer Rob Gorham said. The artist lineup for the Toronto festival will be announced at a later date. The UK Bestival being held on September 10-13, will be headlined by Duran Duran, Underworld, and the Chemical Brothers.
Duran Duran was formed in 1978, and the band rose to prominence in the 1980s. The band has had fourteen songs reach the Top 10 on the UK Singles chart, and twenty-one songs reached the Billboard Hot 100. Some of the band’s most well-known songs include “Hungry Like the Wolf,” “The Reflex,” “The Wild Boys,” and “A View to a Kill.” Duran Duran has released thirteen studio albums, and they have successfully sold over seventy million records worldwide.
Underworld is a British group currently consisting of three members, Karl Hyde, Rick Smith, and Darren Price. Hyde and Smith have been a part of the group since the 1980s, and Price joined Underworld ten years ago. Both Hyde and Smith have released solo projects recently. Smith’s latest album Trance was put out in 2013, and Hyde dropped a project last year named High Life. The group’s last album entitled Barking was released in 2010. Underworld has also dropped seven other studio albums including Underneath the Radar, Change the Weather, A Hundred Days Off, and Oblivion with Bells.
Chemical Brothers consists of Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons. The duo has been making music together since 1991. The duo has had five albums top the charts on the UK charts, and thirteen songs have reached the Top 20 on the UK Singles chart. The Chemical Brothers have won four Grammy Awards including the award for Best Dance/Electronic Album, they were the first recording artists to win this award twice. The duo have released eight studio albums, including Exit Planet, Dig Your Own Hole, Come with Us, and Further. The Chemical Brothers are expected to drop an album some time this year.
