Former Los Angeles Sergeant Chris Carroll was the very first responder to Tupac Shakur‘s 1996 murder. Today he has released to the public the final words of the beloved rapper and they are less than pretty. “F—k You” were the very last words to come from Tupac’s mouth before the gunshot wound to his stomach overtook him. His seat would later indirectly lead to the retaliatory murder of Biggie Smalls aka Notorious B.I.G., suspected by some to be the reason for Tupac’s death.
In an interview with Vegas Seven, Carroll describes how on September 7, 1996 he arrived on the scene to see a bleeding Tupac in the vehicle of friend Suge Knight, then CEO of famed Death Row Records. After realizing who the victim was, Carroll began to remove him from the car and asked him who the one who shot him was. At first Tupac ignored the officer’s questions then “in his movements, all of a sudden in the snap of a finger, he changed,” described Carroll. “And he went from struggling to speak, being noncooperative, to an ‘I’m at peace’ type of thing. Just like that.”
After that moment Carroll continued to question Shakur over the identity of his killer. “I thought I was actually going to get some cooperation. And then the words came out: ‘F–k you.’ After that, he started gurgling and slipping out of consciousness.” Shakur remained silent throughout his ambulance ride and surgery prep until sedation. In the middle of surgery Tupac slipped into a coma and was later taken off of life support, becoming one of the most influential deaths of the 90’s.
Carroll has come forward with this information due to his recent retirement from the LAPD. He also withheld the information to prevent Tupac from becoming a martyr and instigator when knowledge of his defiant last words to a cop became public knowledge.
Despte his death Tupac has remained the center of many “fake death” conspiracy theories that mimic that of Elvis Presley and Andy Kaufman. Many fans believe that Tupac is alive and well and waiting for the right moment to come back to the public. “Tupac not dead,” Suge stated last May. “If he was dead they’d be arresting those dudes for murder. You know he somewhere smoking a Cuban cigar on an island somewhere.”
