Top 5 Reasons to Go to Firefly Music Festival This Summer

Firefly Music Festival’s 2017 lineup has been announced. The annual Delaware fest will run on June 15-18 this year and will feature headliners like Bob Dylan, The Weeknd, Muse, Twenty One Pilots, and Chance the Rapper, as well as over 130 other artists. We present to you the top five reasons why you shouldn’t miss the festival this year.

Number One: Bob Dylan

This one is easy: the man is a living legend. Last year Bob Dylan became the first American to win the Noble Prize in literature since Toni Morrison in 1993 and, more significantly, he became the first songwriter to win it ever. The artist is set to release his new album, Triplicate, this year. His first “triple” album will include his takes on 30 classic American songs. Dylan’s act never gets old and the one at Firefly won’t be the one to miss we are sure.

Number Two: Chance the Rapper

This year the 23-year-old Chicago rapper won his first ever Grammy awards for best new artist, rap album, and rap performance. While not technically a “new artist,” he received seven Grammy nominations after the Recording Academy eased its eligibility rules last year to allow works released via streaming platforms. What’s better than Chance the Rapper? Chance the Rapper performing live! So you will be in for a treat this summer at Firefly.

Number Three: Location

The festival is conveniently located in the Woodlands of Dover, DE, which makes it easily accessible from Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington DC, and New York City, and really anywhere on the East Coast. The Woodlands are 154 acres of wooded festival grounds tucked away within the beautiful sports complex. Located within Dover city limits, festival goers are just a short walk from restaurants, hotels, a casino, universities, and shopping.

Number Four: Camping

Camping is the best way to go for a true music festival experience. Firefly lets you choose from a variety of camping packages: from hardcore camping to “glamping” (from “glamourous camping”). They will even provide you with camping equipment. With literally tens of thousands of people camping it out, be ready for some real fun: sports, yoga, headphone discos, and drinking, of course.

Number Five: Food

When you think about food at music festivals the first thing that comes to mind is “junk.” Not at Firefly! The festival offers variety of food options in an effort to provide a well-rounded experience. Expect healthier options, including vegan, gluten free and vegetarian choices amongst others. But don’t worry, burgers and fries are still an option. The festival also partners with local breweries and wineries, so there will be tons of great booze too.

We hope you are convinced and are rushing to buy your passes. Make sure to bring sunscreen, lots of water, and excitement to carry you through this unforgettable 4-day fest.

Pull out your wallets and buy your passes before they are gone. All info about camping, food, activities and tickets is on Firefly’s official website.
