Top 10 Summer Music Festivals of 2015

Summer is the perfect time to attend one of the many music festivals around the world. You don’t have school, work, or any other obligations preventing you from staying up all night listening to your favorite bands and hanging out with your friends. Here are the top ten music festivals that you should definitely attend this summer.

Number Ten: Summer Set – Somerset, Wisconsin, USA. While Wisconsin may not be the most desirable destination for some individuals, Summer Set Music Festival (located in Somerset, Wisconsin) should definitely be on your list of music festivals to attend this summer. With a lineup that includes artists such as The Weeknd, Odesza, G-Eazy, and Rae Sremmurd, Summer Set is bound to be a great time. This festival begins on August 14th and ends on August 16th.

Number Nine: Latitude Festival – Southwold, Suffolk, England. This summer, the Latitude Festival in the city of Southwold, England is the place to be. Latitude Festival will feature a wide variety of great musical artists, ranging from alt-J and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds to The Vaccines and Years & Years. Taking place from July 16th to July 19th, Latitude is unlike many other music festivals because it includes other art forms besides music as well. Over the course of the festival’s four days, there will also be live stand-up comedy, theatrical performances, and dance showcases.

Number Eight: Electric Zoo 2015 – New York, New York, USA. While Electric Zoo 2015 may take place in September (September 4th to September 6th), it is still considered a great music festival to attend this summer. However, it only ranks number eight on this list because, in my opinion, the lineup is not as great as other EDM festivals such as EDC: Las Vegas. This year’s Electric Zoo lineup includes Alesso, Galantis, Cashmere Cat, and Robin Schulz.

Number Seven: Outside Lands – San Francisco, California, USA. Taking place from August 7th to August 9th, Outside Lands 2015 is another great music festival with a great lineup that deserves to be on this list. Some of the artists scheduled to perform at Outside Lands include Sam Smith, Chet Faker, St. Vincent, and The Black Keys. Like Latitude Festival (number nine on this list), Outside Lands will also feature art, comedy, food, and wine exhibitions.

Number Six: T in the Park – Perthshire, Scotland. With a lineup similar to that of Coachella earlier this year, T in the Park 2015 definitely lands a spot on this list. T in the Park (known by fans as TITP) will host bands such as alt-J, Kodaline, The War on Drugs, and Years & Years, in addition to many incredible solo artists such as Sam Smith, Hozier, Jessie J, David Guetta, and Marina & The Diamonds. 85,000 fans are expected to attend T in the Park this year, which will take place from July 10th to July 12th.

Number Five: Electric Daisy Carnival: Las Vegas – Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. EDC: Las Vegas has already occurred this summer, but it undoubtedly deserves a place on this list. Hosted at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway from June 19th to June 21st, EDC featured many performers and DJs, including Alesso, Avicii, Calvin Harris, Disclosure, Martin Garrix, Krewella, and Tiesto. Approximately 300,000 people attended the festival this year.

Number Four: FYF Fest – Los Angeles, California, USA. The 12th annual FYF Fest, located in Los Angeles, California at the L.A. Sports Arena & Exposition Park, is a great music festival to attend this summer. FYF Fest will host artists such as Frank Ocean, Morrissey, Chet Faker, FKA Twigs, and Flume. With this incredible lineup, FYF Fest (taking place on August 22nd and August 23rd) is undoubtedly the perfect way to end your summer.

Number Three: Governor’s Ball NYC – New York, New York, USA. Governor’s Ball (also referred to as Gov Ball) is another music festival that has sadly already passed but definitely deserves a spot on this list. This year Gov Ball took place from June 5th to June 7th at Randall’s Island Park. It hosted an incredible array of artists, including Drake, The Black Keys, Lana Del Rey, Florence + The Machine, Charli XCX, St. Vincent, Marina & The Diamonds, and Vance Joy.

Number Two: Reading Festival & Leeds Festival – Reading, England & Leeds, England. England’s Reading Festival and Leeds Festival are two great festivals to attend this summer. However, you only need to pick one because each festival has the same lineup, just on different days. Taking place from August 28th to August 30th, the Reading Festival, and Leeds Festival will each host approximately 87,000 people. Some of the artists scheduled to appear at these festivals include Mumford & Sons, alt-J, Bastille, All Time Low, Metallica, Tyler The Creator, and Years & Years.

Number One: Lollapalooza – Chicago, Illinois, USA. Hands down, Lollapalooza 2015 in Chicago is the number one music festival to attend this summer. Words cannot express how incredible the lineup is. Florence + The Machine, Sam Smith, The Weeknd, Tove Lo, and Walk the Moon are all scheduled to perform. This festival also includes some of my personal favorites such as Zella Day, Ryn Weaver, and Halsey. If you are in the Chicago area this summer from July 31st to August 2nd, Lollapalooza is a must!
