Top 10 Kid-Friendly Dog Breeds (Part 2)

We already brought you part one of our list of the top 10 kid-friendly dog breeds, and now we’re back with part two! Check out five more dog breeds you should keep in mind if your family is considering getting a dog, especially if keeping your children safe is your priority. You might be surprised by what you find out!

Number Five: Vizslas. Ever heard of the vizsla? Well, if you haven’t, now’s the time to listen up. Vizslas are both gentle and lively, and they’re especially good if you have an active family. Vizslas are also incredibly smart and loyal, and they love to show affection. The vizsla is great for both younger and older children alike.

Number Four: Irish Setters. Irish setters are both beautiful and friendly. Irish setters love to spend time around people, so if you want a family dog that will act as your child’s shadow, an Irish setter is the way to go. However, Irish setters need a lot of space, so if you live in a tiny apartment, you should probably get another dog on this list.

Number Three: Poodles. Yes, it’s true! Though poodles have earned a reputation of being snappy and finicky, they can actually be excellent pets for children. Poodles are smart and naturally gentle, and they are extremely loyal. The only thing to note about poodles is that they require regular grooming; however, they shed very little, so you won’t have to worry about vacuuming up fur all over your house.

Number Two: Labrador Retrievers. Labrador retrievers are some of the best kid-friendly and family-friendly dogs out there. They are large and muscular, but they are also very gentle around children and love to play. Labrador retrievers are extremely protective as well, so if you’re worried about going to sleep at night with young kids around, a labrador retriever is the way to go.

Number One: Golden Retrievers. Finally, perhaps the best kid-friendly dog is the golden retriever, but is this really such a surprise? Golden retrievers are loyal, lovable, and generally just amazing dogs. They are also smaller than labrador retrievers, so if you have an infant at home, a golden retriever would be a better choice. We hope you enjoyed our list of the top 10 kid-friendly dog breeds!
