There is more to that than just because every woman wants one on her finger, Charles Tiffany redesigned engagement rings to how we know them today. Before his redesign, rings were set in bezels, but the new rings highlighted brilliant-cut diamonds by lifting the stone off the band into the light and was named the Tiffany Setting.

As the designs at Tiffany’s became more popular, those with the means to afford it began to take notice. Families like the Vanderbilts, Astors, Posts and Hutton’s all owned china and other things designed by the company.

Have you ever heard the songs “Santa Baby” or “Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend”? Both mention the iconic brand and the name has also popped up in movies, such as Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.
