This Adventurous Dog Loves Going On Outdoor Trips With His Best Friend, A Cat

Generally speaking, dogs and cats usually aren’t the best of friends. Never mind the idea that the two of them could actually be the best of travel buds together! Well, that’s exactly the case with this dog and cat. These two are the ultimate travel buddies and their photos together will ‘wow’ you!

20. Cynthia & Andre

Cynthia Bennett and her boyfriend, Andre are a couple that both enjoy nature together. The duo decided that they would live out their lifelong dream of traveling around and so they did. However, their little family didn’t feel quite complete…

19. Adopting

The couple decided that they wanted to extend their family by adopting a dog. They headed out to an adoption event and were greeted by tons of different dogs. However, one dog in particular really caught Andre’s eye.

18. The Dog

The dog was Henry, a German Shepherd, Husky, Boxer, Staffordshire Terrier and Aussie mix. With such an interesting look to him, Henry immediately stood out. The couple knew they wanted him.

17. Unique

We looked around and Henry was just sitting there,” Bennett told The Dodo. “They said he was only 3 and a half months, but he was like five times bigger than the other 3 and a half-month old puppies. And he had these long legs, and the body type of a wolf or husky.”

16. Perfect Match

He just curled up into my lap and went belly up and flipped his head over my arm,” Bennett said. “And from then, I decided that he was coming home with us.” Henry immediately loved going on long hikes and trips with his new owners and fit into their lifestyle perfectly.

15. Three Days

I think we only had him for three days when we took him on our first hike, which was to Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs,” Bennett said. “He found the steepest, tallest rock around, and he ran up to the top of it to look over the edge.

14. Mountain Goat

We call him our little mountain goat,” Bennett explained. “He scares us to death, because he goes up to the highest cliff or the highest rock to climb up and look over it.” Things were going great until Cynthia and Andre began to notice that Henry would get homesick a lot.

13. Anxious

Henry had really bad separation anxiety when we weren’t home. He would be so stressed out that he didn’t eat or drink, so we decided we really wanted a buddy for him,” Cynthia explained. This was when the couple first started looking into the idea of adopting a new friend for Henry.

12. An Idea

I love to take my animals everywhere – and because of Instagram I had seen other people hiking with cats, who really loved being outside,” Cynthia said. This was when Cynthia got the wild idea to adopt a cat for Henry, however, it wouldn’t be easy finding out that would fit the lifestyle.

11. A Big Search

Cynthia understood that finding a cat that would enjoy the great outdoors would be difficult. “After all” Cynthia said jokingly, “You can’t really force a cat to do anything.” The couple began their search that lasted for months.

10. Rescue Kitten

I really wanted a rescue kitten,” Bennett said. “I’d looked for five months, and I saw lots of different kittens, but none of them really had the right personality or fit. I knew that I wanted to take him anywhere — camping, hiking.” Then, one day, the couple finally came across a perfect match…

9. A Match

One day, at a local shelter, Cynthia came across a Siamese kitten mix named Baloo. Baloo instantly fell in love with Cynthia and the connection was mutual. “He ran right up to me,” Bennett said. “And he was the one who played, but he wasn’t the most rowdy.”

8. Henry & Baloo

However, things were really confirmed for Cynthia when Baloo met Henry. It was love at first sight and Baloo couldn’t get enough of Henry. He wanted to snuggle up to the big dog and be around him all the time. It became a serious obsession….

7. Attached

As soon as he met Henry he attached himself right away. Baloo definitely has an obsession with Henry – if I need him to calm down, I’ll put him next to him and he’ll just fall asleep,” Cynthia said. Baloo seemed eager to be outdoors as well, so Cynthia began leash training him right away.

6. Training

I get a lot of questions about how we got him used to it,” Bennett said. “But he really loves it. He really wants to go outside.” It also helps that Henry is by his side throughout all of the trips as well. Cynthia truly believes that Baloo thinks he is a dog too!

5. Doggy

If he sees a dog out on a walk he’ll run up to it, but if he sees a cat he will pretend it isn’t there and ignore it. Like, do you not understand what you are? It’s quite funny,” Cynthia said. “He’s definitely not the kind of cat we can leave home alone on the weekend anymore.”

4. Mother

“I call them brothers, but I think Baloo thinks that Henry’s his mom because he constantly looks for a teet,” Bennett said. “So he’ll go in, and you can tell he’s looking, because he’s nuzzling under Henry’s armpit.” The two are incredibly attached.

3. Social Media

Cynthia has begun uploading their adventures onto her Instagram account. There she posts some of the most amazing photos of Baloo and Henry navigating the great outdoors together. They’ve gotten a huge following as well.

2. Viral Sensations

Taking a leap as an artist is very scary and it’s not very stable in the long side of things, but I tell my followers all the time you are changing my life and allowing me to do what I love,” Cynthia said about working on her social media page. She has since scaled back on her full-time job and instead works on her hobby.

1. Happy Life

Together, this family has continued to go on their nomadic adventures together. All of them are happy to be in each other’s company. Baloo and Henry are especially grateful to have one another on such long and daring trips.
