Some people might say, “You haven’t lived until you’ve taken a selfie.” However, for these 10 people, selfies were the source of their demise. Check out these 10 freak accidents that resulted from attempts to take selfies. Maybe reconsider the next time you say, “But first, let me take a selfie.”

Number Ten: Calm Before the Selfie. In 2012, Mexican pop star Jenni Rivera and her friends took a group selfie in a private jet. Little did they know that the plane would crash just a few minutes later.

Number Nine: Grounded Selfie. Remember Malaysia Airlines flight MH17? You know, the one that crashed on its way to Kuala Lumpur and killed 283 passengers along with 15 crew members? Well, it turns out one of the passengers took a selfie with his mother just a few minutes before the plane took off.

Number Eight: Romantic Getaway Selfie. One Polish couple got a little too close to the edge of a cliff while on vacation in Portugal. They tried to take a selfie and ended up falling to their deaths.

Number Seven: Selfie Shot. Mexican Oscar Otero Aguilar, 21, was reportedly drinking when he decided to take a selfie with a gun to his head. Unfortunately, the gun spontaneously fired and killed him in the process.

Number Six: Selfie, Take the Wheel. Two Iranian girls were performing karaoke in a car when they apparently got too into the song and crashed. However, no deaths resulted from this selfie, although they did take footage of themselves on the way to the hospital.

Number Five: Don’t “Hog” the Camera! Rapper Ramon Gonzalez took his last selfie on a motorcycle. While he was posting the photo on Instagram, his motorcycle crashed into a car, and Gonzalez died at the scene.

Number Four: Electrifying Selfie. One girl decided it would be a good idea to climb onto the roof of a moving train for a selfie. She got electrocuted from touching a live wire in the process.

Number Three: Deep Water Selfie. While attempting to take a selfie close to Mexico’s El Tunal river, Karen Hernandez slipped in. She drowned as a result.

Number Two: Not so “Happy” Selfie. American Courtney Sanford posted a selfie to Facebook with the caption “The happy song makes me HAPPY!” in regards to Pharrell’s song of the same name. She died in a car crash seconds later.

Number One: Do it All for the Selfie. Russian teen Xenia Ignatyeva wanted to achieve the most dramatic selfie. To achieve this, she went to a bridge to take one with the railway line in the background. However, she fell and died after trying to grab onto some live wires. Her friend was waiting for her below.
