Steve Aoki: 15 Things You Didn’t Know (Part 2)

We already brought you part one of our list of 15 things you probably didn’t know about Steve Aoki, and now we’re back with part two! Check out eight more facts about this Grammy-nominated EDM superstar below. You might be surprised by what you learn!

Number Eight: He Co-Owns Deckstar. The roster for Deckstar is quite impressive and includes NERVO, Travis Barker, blink-182, and DJ Jazzy Jeff, among others. Aoki actually co-owns the company, along with Eminem’s manager Paul Rosenberg, Aoki’s own manager Lawrence Vavra, and Matt Colon.

Number Seven: He Was Featured in a Video Game. Though Aoki has claimed he is not very good at basketball, he was featured in two basketball video games! The games are 2K8 and 2K9, and he was featured as a mystery player.

Number Six: He Has Hit His Stride. During the first half of 2012, Aoki was the highest-grossing DJ at the time. According to a Pollstar poll, Aoki grossed $4.5 million in this time. This number was determined based on his 88-city tour that sold tickets at the price of $32.

Number Five: He Played Himself on the Show ArrowThough many celebrities play other types of characters when they do cameos on shows, Aoki actually just had to play himself. The episode of Arrow he stars in features him DJ’ing in a night club that the character Oliver launches.

Number Four: He Is Proud of His Grammy Nod. Aoki’s Wonderland was nominated for a Grammy for the best Dance/Electronic album. Though he didn’t win, he still considers the nomination his biggest accomplishment. He said, “There’s no way I’m going to win. I’m just happy to be nominated. I’m still celebrating in my head. Every time I smile, it’s because I’m thinking about the nomination.”

Number Three: He Travels a Lot. According to an interview Aoki did with Us Magazine, he travels over 300 days a year. That’s a lot of moving!

Number Two: His Favorite Food Is… Ramen! Just like every other warm-blooded human, Aoki can’t resist a huge bowls of noodles, broth and deliciousness.

Number One: He Has Six Siblings. Talk about a talented family! The names of Aoki’s six siblings are Kevin, Grace, Devon, Kyle, Echo and Jennifer.
