Sammy Wilk: 10 Things You Didn’t Know (Part 1)

You may have stumbled upon Sammy Wilk in several photos and music videos of fellow Omaha-born natives and social media superstars, Jack & Jack and Nash Grier, but Sammy’s own career has taken flight over the past few months. With the release of his new single and music video on YouTube, Chase The Day, we thought we’d bring you up to speed on some facts you may not know about Sammy Wilk. Here, we present our list of 10 things you didn’t know about Sammy Wilk. Check out part one of our list below, and stay tuned for part two, coming soon!

Number Ten: He Has a New Sound. Formerly of the duo Sammy & Skate, Sammy’s music style is transitioning from strictly rap/hip-hop to more laidback songs that integrate an island feel, reflective of his new life in sunny Los Angeles. He personally describes it as hip-hop/pop with a taste of reggae.

Number Nine: He’s a Founding Member of Freshlee Records. Along with Skate (Nate Maloley) and DJ Rupp (Dillon Rupp), Freshlee Records is the official imprint on Sammy releases his music. The three have significant solo careers but are good friends that support each other in their music projects.

Number Eight: His Sister Helps Manage His Career. Emily Wilkinson is not only Sammy’s older sister, but she also helps him stay on top of his busy schedule. They even live together in Los Angeles!

Number Seven: He’s Been to Africa. In November, Sammy traveled to Africa with other social media influencers, Melvin Gregg and Wesley Stromberg, to help launch the #TreatmentForAll campaign in honor of World Aids Day. Number Six: He’s a Global Youth Ambassador for unite4:good. Sammy and good friend / musician, Kenny Holland represented the campaign on their recent stint together as headliners on DigiTour Slaybells: FIRE. They stopped by various homeless shelters located nearby their tour stops dropping off gifts and goods to families in need.
