Sam Smith Reschedules Cancelled Tour Dates

Sam Smith is recovering from his recent throat surgery, and the singer has already rescheduled some of his previously cancelled tour dates. On November 28th, Smith will travel to Australia for a show in Perth. In early December, the singer will make-up his cancelled dates in Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane. After posting on Facebook that “I CAN SPEAK AGAIN,” Smith also sent a statement to his Australian fans. “Australia, I am so happy to finally have some good news for you…I can now announce that my cancelled IN THE LONELY HOUR tour dates have been rescheduled! I’m unbelievably excited to get back onstage and perform for you all again, and I promise it will be so much better than it would have been before when my voice was damaged,” Smith stated. He added,”The past few months have been incredibly difficult, but the support, love and patience my fans have shown me is absolutely unreal. I am so grateful to every one of you. I can’t wait to see you all.” The soul singer underwent throat surgery last month after doctors discovered unstable blood vessels in his vocal cord. The singer is expected to announce more rescheduled tour dates soon.

Smith’s In the Lonely Hour has sold over six million copies worldwide, two million of those copies were sold in the US. The project won a Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album, and “Stay With Me” won two Grammys for Song of the Year and Record of the Year. The number one single sold over five million digital copies in the US. Besides “Stay With Me,” the other singles released from Inthe Lonely Hour were “Lay Me Down,” “Money on My Mind,” “I’m Not the Only One,” and “Like I Can.” The deluxe album version features the single “Latch,” which is Disclosure’s song with Smith. The soul singer also contributed to Mary J. Blige’s The London Sessions, which was dropped last year. He is also expected to work with Rihanna on her upcoming album. Rihanna stated she would love to work with Smith, and she is hopeful both musicians will be able to take time from their busy schedules in order to make the collaboration a possibility.
