Running Young just released a brand new music video called “Did You See“. The video opens with the band members all walking separately into an abandoned warehouse which is covered in amazing graffiti art. One by one, starting with John Bellew on drums, they each pick up their instruments and begin to play. The guitar melodies are sweet-sounding and very well-written, and the overall spirit of the song is sweet. At times the vocals tend towards too sweet, perhaps a little sing-songy, but the solid instrumental performances keep these moments firmly grounded on the side of good indie pop music, instead of pitching into “cute”. The video is well-shot and well-edited, and I have to give a personal feminist shout-out to Cassie McCawley on lead guitar for being the only woman in an all-male band. Way to rock it! Running Young is a up-and-coming band from Melbourne, Australia that produces endearing music, with lovely lyrics and especially lovely music videos. We should all be keeping an eye on this rising star from Down Under.
