Cruises aren’t just for your grandparents anymore. With the success of cruises built around celebrities (Rosie O’Donnell), athletes (Rob Gronkowski) and TV shows (Walker Stalker cruise celebrating The Walking Dead), it was only natural for musicians to get in on the act. Does partying aboard a cruise ship with thousands of people fangirling and fanboying out over your favorite band sound like it might be a good time? Check out these musicians who are getting in on the cruise game.
Paramore’s Parahoy!
Paramore has their own cruise, Parahoy! (oy), which features special guests, Q&A sessions, theme nights, and yes even “paraoke” with the band! This cruise sails from Miami to the Bahamas for four nights in April. Special guests include Local Natives, Judah & The Lion, and comedians like Jordan Rock and Ryan O’Flanagan.
Kiss Kruise VII
Kiss can monetize absolutely anything and the band was quick to get in on the cruise game. This November marked Kiss Kruise VII but if you missed out, don’t worry, there will always be another one. The Kiss kruise is six days long, so if you pass out after one of Kiss’s acoustic storytellers set, you have plenty of time left for a meet and greet with Gene Simmons’ tongue. The Kiss cruise departs from New Orleans and cruises to Cozumel and Costa Maya.
Blue Note at Sea
Jazz fans take their music seriously, and now there is a cruise just for people with discriminating taste. Blue Note has always been a prestige label, and its curated cruise gives fans the chance to rub elbows with Chick Corea, Marcus Miller, Robert Glasper & Lalah Hathaway, among others. It sets sail from Ft. Lauderdale on January 27 and includes stops in Haiti, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and the Bahamas.
Pitbull’s Party After Dark Cruise
Pitbull has been very good to Norwegian cruise lines, so much so that he became one of the first men given the honor of christening a new ship. Pitbull is very into the cruise game. Pitbull’s Party After Dark Cruise is in its second year. The three-day cruise from Miami to Nassau teams you up with Pitbull and 2,200 of his closest friends from March 2 to 5, 2018. Beck G and Flo Rida are also along for the ride.
Outlaw Country Cruise
Country fans love music festivals and now there are several cruises curated just for them. The Outlaw Country Cruise started in 2016 and was so successful they are planning multiple cruises a year. Next up is a three day jaunt from New Orleans to Costa Mesa in January of 2018, with Steve Earle, the Mavericks, Lucinda Williams and Blackberry Smoke.
