NWA Will Reportedly Reunite Onstage This Summer

The remaining members of the legendary group NWA will reportedly reunite onstage later this month. This marks the first time the group will hit the stage together since 1989. It appears the reunion will take place on June 27th at Staples Center in Los Angeles (CA), as part of the 2015 BET Experience event. The centerpiece of the event at the Staples Center that day will be the premiere of NWA’s biopic Straight Outta Compton, for which the audience will be treated to the film and this iconic performance. “It’s going to be a great night. It’s just gonna be one of those ‘I wish I were there in LA nights.’ We’re gonna rock that shit, no problem,” NWA’s Ice Cube told Rolling Stone magazine. This special night will also feature guest appearances by Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, and Snoop Dogg. Along with Ice Cube, fellow NWA members DJ Yella and MC Ren will take part in the event. Dr. Dre has not made an official commitment to the NWA reunion, but Ice Cube has yet to rule out his group member. “You know, if you wish upon a star, you never know,” the rapper said.

NWA (N***az Wit Attitudes) consisted of Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, Eazy-E (deceased), Arabian Prince (left the group in 1988), DJ Yella, and MC Ren. The group released five albums including Panic Zone, N.W.A and the Posse, Straight Outta Compton (studio album), 100 Miles and Runnin’, andNiggaz4Life (studio album). Straight Outta Compton went double platinum, and it featured the singles “Straight Outta Compton,” “Gangsta Gangsta,” and “Express Yourself.”

Dr. Dre and Ice Cube have been named in a lawsuit filed this week against Suge KnightThe widow of Terry Carter filed a wrongful death lawsuit that named Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, Suge Knight, and Universal Studios as defendants. Knight is on trial for murder and attempted murder for allegedly striking Terry Carter and Cle Sloan with his vehicle. Carter died as a result of his injuries, and Sloan did not suffer life-threatening injuries. The incident happened while Knight was onset of the Straight Outta Compton film. He visited the set in order to confront Dr. Dre about the way he was being portrayed in the movie.
