Nicki Minaj Added to BET Awards Performers List

The 2015 BET Awards will broadcast live on June 28th at 8pm (Eastern standard time) from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles (CA). The network announced Nicki Minaj, Kendrick Lamar, and Chris Brown will take the stage at the awards show. Other performers are expected to be revealed in the days leading up to the show. co-host the BET Awards this year.

The nominees for the music event were announced last month. Some of the nominees in the respective categories: Best Female Artist- Beyonce, Ciara, Jhene Aiko, and Rihanna; Best Male R&B/Pop Artist- Chris Brown, Usher, Trey Songz, and The Weeknd; Best Group- A$AP Mob, Jodeci, Migos, and Rae Sremmurd; Best New Artist- Sam Smith, Bobby Shmurda, DeJ Loaf, Fetty Wap, and Rae Sremmurd; Best Gospel Artist- Michelle Williams, Mali Music, Lecrae, and Fred Hammond. Best Collaboration- Mark Ronson “Uptown Funk” featuring Bruno Mars, Common and John Legend “Glory,” Chris Brown “New Flame” featuring Usher and Rick Ross, and Chris Brown “Loyal” featuring Lil Wayne and Tyga.

Best Male Hip Hop Artist- Wale, Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, and Drake; Best Female Artist- Nicki Minaj, Azealia Banks, DeJ Loaf, and Iggy Azalea;Video of the Year- Beyonce “7/11,” Big Sean “I Don’t F**k With You,” Chris Brown “Loyal,” and Chris Brown “New Flame”; Video Director of the Year-Benny Boom, Beyonce (with Ed Burke and Todd Tourso), Chris Robinson, and Fatima Robinson. Viewers’ Choice Award- Beyonce “7/11,” DeJ Loaf “Try Me,” Kendrick Lamar “i,” and Nicki Minaj “Only” featuring Drake, Lil Wayne, and Chris Brown; Centric Award- Mark Ronson “Uptown Funk” featuring Bruno Mars, Jazmine Sullivan “Dumb” featuring Meek Mill, Avery Sunshine “Call My Name,” and The Weeknd “Earned It.”

Some of the other categories at the BET Awards include Best Actress, Best Actor, Young Stars Award, Best Movie, Sportswoman of the Year, andSportsman of the Year. The BET Awards’ co-hosts are nominated in the Best Actor and Best Actress category for their work on Black-ish. Both Lebron James (Cleveland Cavaliers) and Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors) are up for the Sportsman of the Year award. The NBA MVPs are currently competing against one another in the NBA Finals.
