Mumford and Sons Have Unleashed ‘The Wolf’

Mumford and Sons released a new single “The Wolf,” which will be on their upcoming album. The band has been experimenting a new sound, and “The Wolf” is synonymous with Mumford and Sons’ departure from their previous work. Last month, the band introduced the first single from their album dropping on May 4th entitled Wilder Mind.

The band’s fans may have gotten used to hearing instruments like a banjo in their previous albums, but “Believe” uses sounds like synthesizers and electric guitars. Although the sound may have alarmed Mumford and Sons’ fans at first, it seems most of their audience have gravitated to their new music. “Believe” went to Number 1 on the Rock Airplay chart, and Number 4 on the Hot Rocks Songs chart as well. The single also impacted the charts in Australia, Sweden, Canada, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Ireland, the UK, New Zealand, the Netherlands and Switzerland.

Along with a new sound, the band tried something different in regards to their writing process as well. Mumford is usually the band’s main songwriter, but he decided to focus more on his artistry as a singer for the Wilder Mind project. Therefore, the entire band contributed lyrics to the album, and it allowed everyone to offer a more collective creative process for recording Wilder Mind. Besides “The Wolf” and “Believe,” the 12-track album also includes “Tompkins Square Park,” “Wilder Mind,” “Just Smoke,” “Monster,” and “Broad-Shouldered Beasts.” Wilder Mind is available to be pre-ordered right now on iTunes.

This weekend, Mumford and Sons will be the musical guests on Saturday Night Live. The show will be hosted by Empire’s Taraji P. Henson. Mumford and Sons will launch their Gentlemen of the Road Stopovers tour this summer. Their first show is on June 5th at The Beachside at Seaside Heights music festival in New Jersey.
