Miguel revealed he is releasing a new album this summer, which will be entitled Wildheart. The singer removed his three-song EP named nwa.hollywooddreams.cofee from his Soundcloud page recently, and he debuted a new rendition of his song “Coffee.” The new version is entitled “Coffee (F**king)” and it features rapper Wale.
Last month, John Legend announced he is producing a musical romantic drama, and Miguel is expected to play the lead role in the film. The movie is about a former one-hit wonder who gets hired to coach an aspiring singer who is auditioning for a singing competition show. Legend said he is looking forward to working with Miguel, and he believes his Get Lifted Film Company will deliver a powerful film. The film is scheduled to begin shooting in September.
Miguel has released two studio albums including All I Want Is You (2010) and Kaleidoscope Dream (2012). The singer’s All I Want Is You project reached Number 9 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, and it was led by the album’s title-track. “All I Want Is You” featuring J. Cole impacted four Billboard charts including the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs at Number 7, Adult R&B Songs at Number 21, US Rhythmic at Number 23, and Hot 100 at Number 58. “Sure Thing,” “Quickie,” and “Girls Like You” were also dropped as singles. “Sure Thing” was Miguel’s first song to top the Billboard chart, and it peaked at Number 1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. The hit song was also certified platinum in the US, after it sold over one million copies worldwide.
Kaleidoscope Dream featured production from Salaam Remi (Nas and Amy Winehouse) and Jerry Wonda (Shakira and Destiny’s Child). The album impacted the Billboard 200 at Number 3, and it sold over 70,000 copies in its debut week. Kaleidoscope Dream released three singles including “Adorn,” “Do You…,” and “How Many Drinks” featuring Kendrick Lamar. The platinum-selling “Adorn” reached Number 1 on the Adult R&B Songs and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. It also peaked at Number 17 on the Billboard Hot 100, and “Adorn” earned three Grammy Award nominations for Best R&B Performance, Song of the Year, and Best R&B Song.
