Miguel just revealed his new album will be entitled Wildheart, and it will be released on June 30th. The R&B singer dropped a three-track EP last December, and it featured the singles “NWA” featuring Kurupt, “Hollywooddreams,” and “Coffee.” The songs have been removed from his Soundcloud page, and Miguel just dropped an updated version of his song “Coffee.” The new rendition is now named “Coffee (F**king)” [featuring Wale], and it is expected to be on the Wildheart album. Whether or not “NWA” and “Hollywooddreams” will be on the new album has yet to be determined.
The singer’s last album entitled Kaleidoscope Dream was dropped in 2012. The project reached Number 3 on the Billboard 200, and it sold over 70,000 copies in its first week. Kaleidoscope Dream produced three hit singles including “Adorn,” “Do You…,” and “How Many Drinks” featuring Kendrick Lamar. “Adorn” reached Number 1 on the Adult R&B Songs and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, and it sold over one million digital copies. “Adorn” earned three Grammy Award nominations for Song of the Year, Best R&B Performance, and Best R&B Song.
Miguel’s debut studio album, All I Want Is You, was released five years ago. The debut peaked at Number 9 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, and it was led by the album’s title-track named “All I Want Is You” featuring J. Cole. The single reached four Billboard charts including the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs (Number 7), Adult R&B Songs (Number 21), US Rhythmic (Number 23), and Hot 100 (Number 58). The songs “Sure Thing,” “Quickie,” and “Girls Like You” were also released from the album. “Sure Thing” was Miguel’s first single to top the Billboard chart by peaking at Number 1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. “Sure Thing” was certified platinum in the United States, after it generated over one million in single sales.
Miguel is expected to star in the lead role for a film John Legend is producing. The movie is centered around a one-hit wonder who is hired to coach an aspiring singer who auditions for a singing competition show. The film is scheduled to go into production in September, and it will be produced by Legend’s Get Lifted Film Company.
