Soul singer Mary J. Blige has just announced the dates for her London Sessions Tour. The tour will launch this summer in Pilton, UK on June 26th. The remaining dates on the 16-date trek include Brussells, Belgium on June 28th; Düsseldorf, Germany on June 30th; Birmingham, United Kingdom on July 2nd; Manchester, United Kingdom on July 3rd; London, United Kingdom (Wireless Festival) on July 4th; Frankfurt, Germany on July 7th; Montreux, Switzerland (Jazz Festival) on July 8th; Rotterdam, Netherlands (North Sea Jazz Festival) on July 10th; Singapore on October 16th; Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on October 17th; Perth, Australia on October 21st; Gold Coast, Australia on October 22nd; Sydney, Australia (Soulfest) on October 24th; Melbourne, Australia (Soulfest) on October 25th; and Auckland, New Zealand (Soulfest) on October 26th.
The documentary for Blige’s The London Sessions premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in April. The film featured the R&B singer’s recording sessions with Sam Smith, Disclosure, and Emeli Sande. The London Sessions album was released in November of last year. It reached the Number 1 position on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, and it also peaked at Number 6 on the Digital Albums chart and Number 9 on the Billboard 200. The project also impacted the charts in the UK, Switzerland, Italy, France, Belgium, and Denmark. Five singles were released from The London Sessions including “Therapy,” “Right Now,” “Whole Damn Year,” “Doubt,” and “Long Hard Look.”
Besides The London Sessions, Blige has dropped thirteen studio albums during her career, which include What’s the 411?, My Life, Share My World, Mary, No More Drama, Love & Life, The Breakthrough, Growing Pains, Stronger with Each Tear, My Life II… The Journey Continues (Act 1), and A Mary Christmas. During her legendary music career, Blige has sold over fifty million albums worldwide. Her sophomore project entitled My Life is widely considered as one of the greatest soul albums of its era. The project sold over three million copies, and it entered the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart at Number 1. My Life was executive produced by Sean “P. Diddy” Combs, and it features production from Bad Boy Records’ The Hitmen. “Be Happy,” “I’m Goin’ Down,” “Mary Jane (All Night Long),” “You Bring Me Joy/I Love You,” and “My Life” were all released as singles from the iconic album.
