Mariah Carey is on her way to Australia this year for a coast-to-coast tour. The “Elusive Chanteuse Show” will run seven days Down Under, beginning November 2nd at Sandalford Estate in Perth. Two appearances will be at exclusive wineries. This will be Carey’s first performance streak in Australia since her “Butterfly” world tour in 1998 (excluding three 2013 performances on the east coast). The tour begins in Tokyo on October 4th, with appearances scheduled throughout Asia until the end of the month. The Australia dates are the most recent announcement of added shows.
The tour will promote Carey’s most recent album, Me. I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse, featuring musical guests Nas, Wale (in a power-packed duet), and Miguel. The album was released in May, and while it didn’t succeed the same way her previous releases did, the reviews were generally positive. “I want to experience the spontaneity and emotion that I put into this album on stage with my fans,” Carey said on her website. “I can’t stop writing songs so don’t be surprised if you hear a brand new song that I just wrote the night before the show in your city!” She also tweeted her excitement: “Australia & New Zealand, ‘The Elusive Chanteuse Show’ is coming your way!!”
One of Carey’s most successful albums to date was E=MC² in 2007. The record’s lead single “Touch My Body” was well received two weeks before the album’s premiere, becoming her 18th no. 1 hit, which made her the solo musician with the most number one singles in the US. Her 12th album, Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, arrived in 2009, proceeding her Christmas music project and Elusive Chanteuse.
Mariah Carey will perform in Australia at Sandalford Estate in Perth on November 7th, The Entertainment Centre in Adelaide on November 5th, at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne on Novemeber 7th, at the A Day On The Green Festival at Rochford Wines in Yarra Valley on November 8th, the Qantas Credit Union Arena in Sydney on November 10th, and at Sirromet Wines in Mount Cotton, Queensland, November 16th. She will also stop in New Zealand November 13th at the Vector Arena in Auckland. Tickets for this appearance go on sale September 30th, and for all Australian performances September 26th.
