Madonna Will Perform at the 2015 BRIT Awards

Madonna will perform at this year’s BRIT Awards in London. It’s been twenty years since the pop singer graced the BRIT Awards’ stage. Although she hasn’t performed at the awards show in years, Madonna is no stranger to the show. She won the Best International Female award in 2001 and 2006. The BRIT’s show chairman, Max Lousada, spoke about the return of the pop goddess. “We’re delighted to bring Madonna back to the BRIT Awards. She’s an icon, an innovator, and above all, an entertainer,” Lousada said. He added, “Having her as part of the show will guarantee an unforgettable night of music.” The BRIT Awards will also feature performances by Taylor Swift, Sam Smith, George Ezra, Ed Sheeran, Royal Blood, Paloma Faith, and others. Sam Smith leads all artists with five nominations this year, including Best British Single (“Stay With Me”) and Album of the Year (In the Lonely Hour). The awards show will take place at London’s O2 Arena on the 25th of February. United Kingdom reality television stars, Ant & Dec, will host this year’s awards show.

Madonna will also perform at the 57th Grammy Awards show. This will mark her fifth time performing at the awards show. Kanye West, Beyonce, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Sam Smith, Sia, Ariana Grande, and Ed Sheeran will all perform at the Grammys this year too. It was just announced yesterday that Katy Perry is also expected to grace the stage at the awards show. Perry is fresh off of her record-setting Super Bowl performance. LL Cool J will return as the host for the show, this will be his fourth time hosting the event. CBS will air the awards show on February 8th at 8PM (Eastern standard time).

A song from Madonna’s Rebel Heart album entitled “Iconic” was recently released online. The record features Chance the Rapper and former boxer Mike Tyson. Tyson is featured giving a speech at the beginning of the song. He spoke to Rolling Stone magazine about his guest appearance. According to the boxer, Madonna called and asked him to come to her house. “I didn’t know what the hell I was going there for. I’m just there having a good time and hanging out. She has her producer there and I go into the studio,” Tyson told Rolling Stone. He continued, “I didn’t know if she wanted me to talk or rap. I just go in there and start talking. I’m saying some really crazy things. It was really intense.” Madonna’s thirteenth studio album, Rebel Heart, will be released on March 9th.
