Kate Winslet is one of the most recognizable actresses of her generation. She became a household name after Titanic and has remained one since that time. But the English actresses has plenty of interesting facts most people probably don’t know, and that’s what this list is for.

Number Fifteen: Her First Gig Was in a Sugar Puffs Commercial

She was just eleven years old when the commercial aired, and (maybe fortunately for her), it’s not so easy to find now. She got her real break seven years later in 1994’s Heavenly Creatures, but her first job with Sugar Puffs must have encouraged her.

Number Fourteen: She Didn’t Attend the Titanic Premiere

She missed the premiere of her international breakout film – and the film that is still one of the top-earning movies of all time. She missed the premiere for the funeral of her friend and former boyfriend Stephen Tredre.

Number Thirteen: Kate Winslet Recorded a Song for the Christmas Carol Movie

The song is called “What If?” and was featured in Christmas Carol: The Movie (2001). Fans in the United States might not know it, but in the United Kingdom, the song rose to number six on the charts.

Number Twelve: She Sold Her Home to Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin

She used to own a home in North London – Belsize Park, to be exact. When she moved, she sold it to a couple equally famous as she was.

Number Eleven: She Helped Saved the Life of Richard Branson’s Mother

She was present at the multimillionaire’s Caribbean-island home when it caught on fire. The actress helped carry Branson’s ninety-year-old mother out of the home and to safety.

Number Ten: She Has a Child Named Bear Blaze

First name Bear, middle name Blaze. The child got his middle name because of the house fire that introduced Winslet to the boy’s father (and her third husband).

Number Nine: Her Father is an Established Musician

Her dad Roger is also an actor, but this is more well-known. Less commonly known is the fact that he was in pop punk group Bidgie Reef and The Gas, who’ve supported Pete Doherty’s group Babyshambles. That’s all the Kate Winslet info for now, but check back for part two!
