Kanye West is headlining this year’s Wango Tango on May 9th in Carson (CA). The rest of the artist lineup includes Sia, Calvin Harris, David Guetta, Ne-Yo, Tori Kelly, Nick Jonas, Meghan Trainor, Echosmith, Natalie La Rose, Lunchmoney Lewis, and Jason Derulo. KISS-FM’s Wango Tango will be hosted by Ryan Seacrest (American Idol) at the StubHub Center. Tickets for the concert will go on sale on April 4th, but KISS-FM Club members can purchase tickets on April 3rd.
This year, West will also headline the Glastonbury Festival for the Saturday lineup. The Foo Fighters will headline the event on Friday, and this year’s Sunday headliner will be announced at a later date. The sold out Glastonbury Festival will take place on June 24th through the 28th.
Kanye West and the Glastonbury Festival organizers have been silent ever since the petition was started, but one of the festival organizers (Emily Eavis) has finally decided to address the controversy. “We think the story should not be ‘Why is Kanye coming’ but [it should be] ‘How amazing is it that Kanye is coming.’ [Kanye is] one of the world’s biggest superstars and a music legend, always interesting, never boring,” Eavis wrote in The Guardian. She continued,”He has agreed to play a festival where headliners get paid a fraction of their normal rate in support of Oxfam, Water Aid, and Greenpeace as well as other worthy causes. We think that’s pretty great.”
Eavis also pointed out that Glastonbury has had more than just rock artists perform at the festival in the past. Beyonce (Pop/R&B), Stevie Wonder (R&B), Jay Z (Hip-Hop), The Chemical Brothers (EDM), and many others have performed at Glastonbury. Eavis stated that Glastonbury is not an exclusive rock festival, and it never will be. No matter how many people sign the cancel Kanye West petition, he will be headlining this year’s Glastonbury Festival.
