Kanye West is hitting the stage at the Billboard Music Awards show this year. This marks the first time the rapper will perform at the event. The show’s producers also recently announced that Nicki Minaj and Imagine Dragons will also perform at the awards show. Minaj is expected to perform her single “The Night Is Still Young,” which was dropped last month. The single is sitting at Number 14 on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles chart.
The Billboard Music Awards will take place on May 17th at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The show will broadcast on ABC at 8pm (Eastern standard time), and it will be co-hosted by Ludacris and Chrissy Teigen. Mariah Carey, Wiz Khalifa, Meghan Trainor, Kelly Clarkson, Ed Sheeran, Britney Spears, Iggy Azalea, and more will also perform at the Billboard awards show. Unfortunately, Sam Smith had to cancel his appearance, the soul singer is recovering from a vocal cord hemorrhage. He is expected to make a full recovery in six to eight weeks.
Taylor Swift will premiere the music video for “Bad Blood” at Billboard awards show. The video was directed by famed director Joseph Kahn, and it will feature cameos by Lily Aldridge (as Frostbyte), Zendaya (as Cut-Throat), Hayley Williams (as The Crimson Curse), Gigi Hadid (as Slay-Z), Ellie Goulding (as Destructa X), Hailee Steinfeld (as The Trinity), Lena Dunham (as Lucky Fiori), Karlie Kloss (as Knockout), Kendrick Lamar (Welvin Da Great), and Serayah (as Dilemma).
Swift leads all Billboard nominees with 14 nominations this year, some of nominations include Top Artist, Top Female Artist, Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top Billboard 200 Album for 1989, and Top Hot 100 Song for “Shake It Off.” The other artists with the most nominations are Sam Smith with thirteen nods, Iggy Azalea with twelve, and Meghan Trainor with nine nominations. Some of this year’s categories include the Top Digital Song, which features nominations from Mark Ronson’s “Uptown Funk!” featuring Bruno Mars, Sam Smith’s “Stay With Me,” Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off,” Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Bass,” and Pharrell Williams’ “Happy.”
The Top Radio Song category features John Legend’s “All of Me,” MAGIC!’s “Rude,” Nico & Vinz’s “Am I Wrong,” Sam Smith’s “Stay With Me,” and Pharrell Williams’ “Happy.” This year’s nominees for Top Artist are Ariana Grande, One Direction, Katy Perry, Sam Smith, and Taylor Swift. The nominees for Top Dance/Electronic Artist are Avicii, Clean Bandit, Disclosure, Calvin Harris, and Lindsey Stirling.
