This past Sunday Justin Bieber came under fire over an alleged video taken five years ago where he parodies his own song “One Less Lonely Girl” by substituting in racist slurs. The video was made s an attempt by Bieber to parody a black comedian’s take on another one of his songs, which also substituted racial slurs for certain words. Rumors have since began to grow that someone was extorting Bieber over the video. Bieber has since issued an apology via a press release:

“As a kid, I didn’t understand the power of certain words and how they can hurt. I thought it was ok to repeat hurtful words and jokes, but didn’t realize at the time that it wasn’t funny and that in fact my actions were continuing the ignorance. Thanks to friends and family I learned from my mistakes and grew up and apologized for those wrongs. Now that these mistakes from the past have become public I need to apologize again to all those I have offended. I’m very sorry.”

The video has now been released by TMZ at the request of Bieber’s people in order for the Canadian Pop Star to appear open about his mistakes. The video can be seen here on TMZ’s website. In it the 15 year old sings into the camera smiling brightly “If I kill you/ I’ll be part of the KKK/There’ll be one less lonely n—–.” Bieber reportedly told his friends Will Smith and Usher about his participation In the video years ago and asked forgiveness. The video was taken right as Bieber was becoming the international star he is now. Usher then showed Bieber “historically racist videos” according to TMZ. This was an attempt to demonstrate just how wrong Bieber was to make the video.

This is just the latest of ordeals for the singer who has become infamous for his negative headlines in the media. Time after time an incident have occurred followed swiftly by a seemingly sincere apology and admission of mistakes. While he remains one of the most popular stars of the day, this latest incident is but one more push of the envelope in a career filled with scandal.
