Holychild will release their first studio album, The Shape of Brat Pop to Come, some time this year. The project will be released through Glassnote Records, and it will feature production from Greg Wells and Cian Riordan. Both producers have won Grammy Awards, and Wells has worked with Adele and Katy Perry, while Riordan has worked with Keith Urban and 5 Seconds of Summer. One half of the Holychild duo, Liz Nistico, said their new project is rebellious pop music. “We love pop, we love catchy melodies, and more importantly, we love using these elements to make people think differently about their role in our culture,” Nistico stated.
The pop duo will perform at the South by Southwest music festival on March 16th through March 20th in Austin, Texas. Holychild will also join Passion Pit on the road for a few dates in May, including stops in Brooklyn, Chicago, Seattle, Denver and Salt Lake City. On June 6th, the duo will perform at The Governors Ball in New York. The music festival will also feature performances from Drake, Florence and The Machine, Deadmau5, Bjork, The Black Keys, Lana Del Rey, and more.
Passion Pit also just revealed they are dropping a new album on April 21st. The album entitled Kindred is also available to preorder on iTunes now. The project will feature ten tracks including the lead single, “Lifted Up (1985).” Passion Pit’s lead singer, Michael Angelakos, recently appeared in a PSA video about coping with bipolar disorder, which was produced by actress Glenn Close‘s nonprofit organization, Bring Change 2 Mind. The nonprofit organization is working to end the stigma and discrimination surrounding mental illness. Angelakos was diagnosed as bipolar when he was 18 years old.
The rocker went public with his diagnosis in 2012, when the Passion Pit frontman had to cancel tour dates in order to improve his mental health. Now that the band is touring and making music again, it seems Angelakos is making great progress in regards to coping with his mental health issues. During their upcoming tour, the band will make stops at several music festivals including the BUKU festival (March 13,14), McDowell Mountain festival (March 27-29), Big Guava festival (May 8,9), BottleRock festival (May 30), and the WayHome festival (July 24-26). Passion Pit will also travel to Tokyo, Japan for back-to-back dates on August 15th and 16th.
FDRMX Eyes: Ohio native Ya Boi TC recently premiered his music video for “Timeless.” “Timeless” is a hip-hop love ballad.
